Sunday @ actionchurch

Have you ever been in a situation that triggered your “Fight or Flight” response?   Have you ever heard a loud noise in the middle of the night? Recovered from a skid after your vehicle hit an invisible patch of ice?  Narrowly miss being hit by a Garbage truck because you had your new Christmas-gift headphones cranked so loud you could hear it?  Remember how your heart thumped in your chest?  Remember how your muscles were tense, and your adrenaline glands flooded your system? Remember how you felt ready to run away at top speed…or turn and take on a samurai-sword wielding attacker?

God designed our bodies with an amazing danger-response system.  Unfortunately, many dangers in life-2013 aren’t as clear cut as a slow-moving garbage truck or a samurai- sword wielding attacker.  It’s difficult to know what is REALLY a danger.  It’s difficult many other times to know if we should run away from a situation…or stay and fight on.  Fortunately, scripture has some brilliant insight on things we should run from…and things we should fight.   We’ll be exploring some of them that I think will be truly helpful to all of us as we start a new year during the month of January.   We’ll get started Sunday…Bring a someone new to be part of this brand new sermon Series.

This week will feature music from Jake Lewis, and actionkidz has another great week planned in their “What’s in the Bible” teaching series.  As always there will also be loads of yummy Maple Donuts, Muffins, Bagels, Hot Coffee, water, and great actionchurch people to hang with.   It all starts at 10:30 am at Frank Theaters Queensgate (Directions).

Sunday @ actionchurch

This Sunday in the “Inside the Camp” series we’ll be taking on one of the most controversial and misunderstood aspects of church:  “Worship”.  Is worship a music genre?  Is it a portion of a church service?  Is it a state of mind…or a body position?  (Are you really “worshipping” if you only raise one hand like a high five, or keep your hands palms up like you are asking for keys?)  Sunday we will cover all of these difficult questions (and more) :-)  from Moses in Deuteronomy to Jesus in the book of John.   You won’t want to miss this week also as we will be celebrating communion, and the AMAZING results of last weeks “BigASKList” finale!

We’ll also have The August Exchange as our musical guests, and actionkidz has another great week planned in their “What’s in the Bible” teaching series.    As always there will also be loads of yummy Maple Donuts, Muffins, Bagels, Hot Coffee, water, and great actionchurch people to hang with.   It all starts at 10:30 am at Frank Theaters Queensgate (Directions).   Be there…and bring someone(s)!

Sunday @ actionchurch

This Sunday in week three of the “At the Movies” sermon series, we’re gonna be discussing the most complex, “deep”, and challenging film yet…the LORAX.

Yes, you heard me, I think “The Lorax” is the “deepest” movie we’ll discuss this year.  If you ARE a kid-watch the Lorax.  If you have kids-whether they are 5 or 50-I hope you’ll take the time to watch the Lorax. Sunday as we jump into the world of Dr. Suess, we’ll discuss such tough subjects as “Free will”, “original sin”, environmental destruction, and whether bears really will eat marshmallows.  I can’t wait to share some incredibly encouraging and challenging words from the Book of Romans, so bring a skeptical friend or family member.  It’s going to be an amazing week.

This week will also feature the music of the Ryan Payne Band, a great hour of excitement and learning for your kids in actionkidz, and of course more yummy, buttery, movie popcorn.

It all starts at 10:30 am at Frank Theaters Queensgate (Directions).   Come earlier to enjoy  Coffee, Maple Donuts, bagels, and Muffins with the friendly folks of actionchurch.

Action Bible Giveaway

If you’d like to find out more about the Action Bible that our we’re giving to ALL actionkidz attenders in the 6-11 class, they have a pretty sweet website here. ActionBible.com   The story of the illustrator is pretty fascinating, and parents there are games and some coloring sheets for the kids.

As a parent nothing makes me happier than to see my daughter reading the great stories from the Bible this summer…because she wants to…because they are awesome…because they are presented in a relevant and artistic format.  As a pastor, I love being part of a church that cares about kids enough to provide each one of them with such an amazing book…and opportunity.  I truly believe these stories will stay with our children forever, thanks to all of you who are making it possible!

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday @ actionchurch.

This weeks weekend “service” will span three days.  Friday and Saturday you can find us serving those fighting cancer at York’s Relay for Life.  Got Questions?  Here’s a Relay for Life FAQ.   As a church focused on Loving God, Loving People, and Taking action, events like Relay are just as much a part of our DNA as meeting on Sunday morning.  Don’t miss a chance to be part of it!

Sunday Morning we’ll meet back at Frank Theaters for the grand Finale of the “Math” sermon series, and we will no doubt CELEBRATE how God has taken our little…and made it much!  Jerry Duncan and his band will provide the rock, and actionkidz has a great morning planned for all your little ones.  I can’t wait for share the life-changing final principals we can learn from the miracle of Jesus “feeding the 5000″…and share examples of how actionchurch folks have already put them into action!

It all starts at 10:30 am at Frank Theaters Queensgate (Directions).   Come earlier to enjoy  Coffee, Maple Donuts, bagels, and Muffins with the friendly folks of actionchurch.
