This Sunday @ actionchurch

This Sunday we’re continuing the investigation into the conviction and execution of Jesus of Nazareth.  What did he do that was so objectionable?  Why did the religious leaders of his time chose to turn a fellow countryman over to their hated Roman occupiers, to be tortured and brutally executed?  Who were the people in the court who yelled “Crucify him!”?  Why would they join the religious elite in convicting this seemingly peaceful carpenter turned religious teacher?   We’re on the case…and perhaps the most interesting thing we’re discovering, is that the things they HATED about Jesus…are the SAME THINGS that make us LOVE and WORSHIP him today.  Join us Sunday and decide for yourself.

Don’t forget, It’s “Spring Forward” weekend for Daylight Savings Time.  So, you won’t have to shovel your car out to make it to actionchurch this weekend…but you will need to lose an hour of sleep to be on time.  We’re gonna do OUR BEST to make it worth it.:-)

Sunday we’ll have “Mark and Meg”  as our musical guests, we’ll have updates on our “actionchurch For North York”  renovation progress, and all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

Sunday marks the start of a brand new month (One month closer to Spring!); and as an added bonus, March has not four but FIVE Sundays. Normally that might pose a problem, because we have notoriously short attention spans at actionchurch, but not this month!  Easter comes in April, and ***spoiler alert***we’ll spend that month talking about the Death, Burial, and Miraculous Resurrection of Jesus.  Which brings us to the question we’re considering in this months sermon series:  Why did they convict and execute Jesus on the cross, anyway?   What did he do?   What would motivate the religious leaders of his time to side with their Roman occupiers against a popular fellow Rabbi?  What exactly could a guy who fed the hungry and healed the sick do that was so objectionable anyway?  Was this a case of politics…power…professional jealousy?  Or was it something else entirely that got Jesus killed?  We’ve got answers…and we can’t wait to spill them. And, you just might find that the things that caused Jesus to be HATED by the religious elite of his time, are EXACTLY the reasons we LOVE and HONOR him today…

Sunday will feature The Jesse Baker Band as our musical guests, We’ll have updates on our “actionchurch For North York” progress,  and all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

how-to-build-an-idol

This Sunday is the final week of the “How to build an IDOL” sermon series, and yes, we are finally going to explain how to actually “build” an idol.   Beyond that, though; this is the week where we will answer the big question “What’s the point?” when it comes to the story of Israel worshipping golden calves. (Or any other ancient Bible story for that matter.)  In this final week we’ll learn from Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, that the story of the VERY BAD people of Israel is actually VERY GOOD NEWS for all of us!  We’ll also celebrate communion together, get an update on the progress that’s happened so far at our new North York location, and actually get a glimpse of what the new facility will look like ON THE INSIDE in the future!

Sunday will feature Matt Wheeler and Vintage Heart as our musical guests and all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

how-to-build-an-idol

If you have ever uttered the sentence “What is wrong with people?”, this is the Sunday for you.  It doesn’t matter if you said those words because you read a news article, a Facebook post, overheard a conversation, watched a grammy performance, clicked on a tweet, or accidentally tuned your car stereo into talk radio…whatever the reason you have for saying or thinking those words…you are going to want to be part of this Sunday at actionchurch. In the book of Exodus, God actually diagnosis “what is wrong with people” in two simple words.  AND, what God does next is GOOD NEWS for all of us!

Thanks to all the hard work of actionchurch volunteers, the major demo and cleaning of the new NORTH YORK VENUE has been mostly completed in just two weekends!!!  However, there is still work to be done and if you are interested in being part of the project, please contact projects@actionchurch.com about what’s happening this week at the building.

Sunday will feature Dan and Lauren Smith as our musical guests and all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

This Weekend @ actionchurch

how-to-build-an-idol

We’ve got another full weekend planned for you this week at actionchurch. On Saturday, (8am-5pm) we’re having our second work day in our future venue- actionchurch for North York. (36 W 11th ave. York PA 17401). Last week, actionchurch volunteers moved mountains of debris and demolished anything that stood in the way of constructing new areas to Love God, Love people, and take action on Sunday mornings…and all through the week.  This Saturday they are going to do it again!  Need details? Contact projects@actionchurch.com.  Here’s a little taste of what was accomplished last week.  Thanks SO much to everyone who made it possible!

On Sunday, we’re continuing the “How to build an Idol” series by doing something we ALL love to do- Give “free advice” to people in charge.  If you’ve ever said the words “If I was in charge I’d___________?” about anyone from your supervisor at work, to the President of the United States, this week is for you!   In addition to learning how not to totally screw up any leadership position you may have (or EVER have in the future), we’ll talk about a strange way of choosing and developing leaders that actionchurch learned from something Jesus said when his chosen leadership team began to argue about “Who was ‘in charge’?”.

So, that’s your weekend plans, and by the way, we also have Silver City Rodeo as our musical guests and all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church!  We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.
