When it's your day…

So Jeff Gordon won the race at Texas Motorspeedway yesterday.  Not a big surprise…he’s one of the “winning-est” drivers in Nascar.  I know a lot of you are not Nascar fans…and if you are…not Jeff Gordon fans (I’m not) but hang with me.

Jeff Gordon hadn’t won a race in over a year.  He’d been to the Texas Motorspeedway 16 times without a win.  Lots of times his team had the best car…the best plan…the best execution….but it just “wasn’t their day”.

Life is like that.  There are times when we are doing “all the right things” but not seeing the results we would like.  Times when (like Joseph in the Bible) we can go for long periods…working…praying…living lives of integrity…but still not see a “win”.   Sometimes it’s not your “day”.

It’s easy to get discouraged when you are working hard, doing the right things, and it’s still not your “day”.   It’s tempting to quit doing the right things because it isn’t “working”.  It’s tough to be consistent…as an employee…as a team…even as a church.   It’s “normal” to want to give up…but we can’t if we want to ever experience a “win”.

Because when it’s your day…when your opportunity comes to “win”…when you conditions are right…You have to ALREADY be doing the right thing.  So don’t give up.  You never know when it’s your day…

9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9
