I know this blog is not exactly the first place you go for movie recommendations, but let me make one anyway.  Despicable Me just came out on DVD-Blueray yesterday.  I recommend you pick it up and enjoy it over the holidays, whatever your age might be. 

There’s plenty of silliness for your kids (and me).  The minions are funny and the orphans are adorable enough to make your wife say “awwwwww” even if she’s still mad at you for forgetting to tell her that she has a gift exchange tomorrow.  Steve Carrell is at his best as the “Villain”.

Be careful though, watching Despicable Me might make you want to start an evil enterprise, create a boogie robot, or even adopt orphaned children.  (It sort of made me want to get a giant jet powered Gru-mobile with an elevator inside.)

You might even think after watching it that even though there is a “villain” inside all of us you wants to steal the moon and be served by minions, the only thing that really satisfies in life  is when we give ourselves for others…
