Four more years…

“Time! Time! Who’s got the time?!” – The March Hare

I was simply stunned this past Sunday when Don mentioned that we had been meeting as a church at Frank Theater for four years! FOUR. YEARS. In all honesty – if someone had asked me – I would never have realized it had been four years.

I’ve been there – most Sundays…..sitting with all of you in those nice cushy red seats that rock. I’ve been there – most Sundays…..eating donuts (before my conversion to Fitness Pal) and drinking coffee. I’ve been there – most Sundays…..listening to the sermon and trying to figure out –

  1. If I actually understood Don’s jokes
  2. If it was intended as a joke; and
  3. How to apply the message to my daily life.

Time passes quickly when you’re having fun.

“I knew who I was this morning, but I’ve changed a few times since then.”

-Alice in Wonderland

But, in all that passage of time, there’s been way more to church than 208 (give or take a few) Sunday mornings. Life has been happening. There have been dramas and traumas. There‘s been work and play; missions and service projects and actiongroups. There have been failures and triumphs. We’ve changed, we’ve grown and we’ve learned about ourselves and about being a church.

“All you need is faith and trust…..and something I forgot…..a little bit of pixie dust.”   Peter Pan

We’ve trusted God in the good times and in the lean times. Every good and perfect thing that we’ve experienced as a church has come as a gift from God. All He has asked is that we provide the work to put it together.   Going forward into the next four years (and the four after that and four after that) I pray that we look back on this series and are bold enough to remember this ONE thing:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong. Be courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
