What to bring to Relay

Unloading truck at Relay

York County Relay for Life kicks off tomorrow (June 20-21).  We are looking forward to serving cancer survivors and caretakers in our community as a church…and having a lot of fun and fellowship in the process.   Here’s some things you should bring to the event.

Comfy shoes  (even if you didn’t sign up to walk…you will walk…everywhere…a lot.)

Something warm (I know, it’s 90+…but if you are working at night it can get cold)

Sunblock (the sun is hot…and the big idea is to FIGHT cancer)

Phone charger (our smart-phones give up LONG before our volunteers do)

Umbrella/raincoat (Relay is a rain or shine event…mostly “shine”…but you never know.)

Empty stomach (Chef Rick will be cooking crew meals at action-central.  Always something yummy to munch on!)

actionchurch t-shirt(s) (If you’ve got em…wear em…if not, we’ll provide you one.  If you’re a power-sweat-er like me, it will take about 4 shirt changes to make it through the  24 hour event)

Hands/feet ready to serve!  (THE MOST IMPORTANT thing you can bring is a great attitude…ready to serve others EVERYWHERE…not just in “actionchurch areas”…not just when it’s the job you signed up for.  The greatest thing I see each year is people in actionchurch t-shirts carrying things, assisting others, and generally just being ready to serve others anywhere, any time!)

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the York School of Technology this Friday and Saturday!
