Homework

powerdown-week-1.070

Next Sunday we’ll be starting a brand new series that answers the questions that many of you will have as you set out on your journey to do the thing(s) that God created created you to do.  How can I know that God has an actual plan for me?  By Faith.   How am I going to know what God wants me to do?  By Faith.   How can a person like me do something  like that?  By Faith.   How will I gather the resources, the connections, the experience needed?   By Faith.  (If you notice a pattern, it’s because the answer is ALWAYS “By Faith”. :-)

“By Faith” is a simple two word answer that can be incredibly confusing…especially if (Like most of us!) you’re not exactly sure what faith is or how it works.  Before we begin the ever-so-cleverly-named “By Faith” series Sunday, I’ve got a simple homework assignment for you.  I would love for everyone to read Hebrews Chapter 11.   It’s an epic and exciting read about people who accomplished amazing things (you guessed it) “by faith”.  It contains a great definition of what faith is, and contains a “Hall of Fame” list of some of the most amazing stories of faith throughout history.

I can’t wait to share more about living “By Faith” Sunday.  Until then, take a few minutes and read Hebrews 11, you’ll be glad you did!

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.  -Hebrews 11:6
