5 Years Later

1.13.08TestDrive

Sunday marked a pretty significant milestone for actionchurch. Exactly 5 years before, on 1.13.2008, we held our second “Test Drive” service at Fat Daddy’s Night Club. Thanks to God, Jerry Duncan’s amazing connections, and what must have been an INCREDIBLY slow news day, TWO camera crews showed up to our little practice service of about 30 people. That night, the “crazy-church-meeting-in-a-bar” was on the news…and the rest…as they say…is history.

It’s amazing to me to remember how much God has done over the last five years. I am so grateful for the changes that have come out of the last 255 sundays…in me…and in actionchurch. I am so thankful for the great team we have assembled over the years. This Sunday’s service, from start to finish, was the result of the hard work and combined talents of MANY, not one. However, I am most thankful that we are STILL doing what we set out to do. STILL the church that people who wouldn’t normally consider church, love to attend.  STILL pointing people to Jesus…and STILL doing it in a unique and interesting way. And ss Josiah said Sunday, STILL proudly the dumbest church in america:-)

Here’s a look back at one of the news reports.
