Election night thoughts from Kenna

I went to bed on election night 2012 at the same time I normally do.  Many of you were  to various electronic media anxiously awaiting the outcome of the voting.  I went to bed.

Don’t get me wrong.  I did vote.  I am a firm believer that we have not only a right but a responsibility to do so.  I just don’t get too worked up about the outcome.  We had up to the minute expert analysis for weeks on end.  We had mud-slinging campaign advertisements for months on end.  We’ve had governmental strategy and planning for years and years and years and decades on end.

Did it change the fact that I had to get up on Wednesday morning and go to work?  Did my life change overnight?  I hope Josiah doesn’t edit this due to a big ‘ole Jesus juke….but it’s true…..God knew the outcome of this “election” long before the Electoral College got a hold of it.  And the fact is that if your hope is not in God but in your particular political party you are on the “wrong side”.

Everything moves forward from here.  But we can only move forward if we are all moving together.  I am anxious to hear Don’s second term strategy session for actionchurch.  I am old fashioned so if he could do it as a fire side chat…..with a puppy at his feet……and some homemade cookies on the end stand – I would really get enthusiastic.

1 Corinthians 1:10 begs us to “….agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

Sure sounds like another great quote  –  “ United we stand.  Divided we fall.”

It works for nations, churches and families.
