For Furthur Review…

Sunday we talked about a series of principles that Jesus taught about money and “stuff”.  In the interest of trying to not just use “Jesus Sound Bites”, we read his entire teaching found in Luke 12:13:34.  I believe the up-side of teaching through a complete “talk” Jesus gave, is that you get the complete story…the complete picture…the complete principle that Jesus was conveying.  The down-side is that in a thirty-five minute talk there are a lot of really great points that Jesus made (who could say MORE with fewer words than anyone) which can’t be explored.

Here’s a verse that I sort of breezed past Sunday due to time constraints…but I still can’t stop thinking about it when I am tempted to be less than content.

29 “And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. 30 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. 31 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.  Luke 12:29-31

We serve a God who is like a loving father.  He ALREADY KNOWS our needs.  He doesn’t need to be “brought up to speed” on mortgage payments, or car repair costs, or hospital bills.  He’s not confused by our four page mobile phone bill, unemployment compensation, or payroll taxes.  God ALREADY KNOWS and understands our needs.  If we are his children, the first step to contentment and happiness is trusting that God KNOWS…and wants to provide just what we NEED.

I am so thankful for that little statement from Jesus this morning…
