Faith and endurance

In a recent interview, author Tim Sanders recounted that his Grandmother taught him that the only two things you need to be successful in life are faith and endurance:  Faith to believe that what you are doing is worth the struggle, and endurance to keep you going even when your faith is weak.  Successful people endure the situations that cause others to give up.  Successful people endure because of faith that their goal is worthwhile.

I think that’s true for most situations in life: diets, degree programs, careers, even marriages.  The list is endless. The great news is that if you are a follower of Jesus carrying out his mission on earth, even the things that cause our faith to waver…things that we have to endure…situations that seem totally stacked against us…are promised in the Bible to some day work to our benefit!

Don’t  you dare give up!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. -Paul (Romans 8:28)

  1. Oh how driven we would be if we could see the whole picture. Faith is knowing that God’s plan is so much better than we can ever imagine for ourselves. Every step forward we can possibly stumble, because we’re human but we need to continue to believe in God’s goodness.
Your so right Don about endurance we need to press on, remembering our peace and joy is’nt tied to our circumstances……….
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.[a] Because of the joy[b] awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Hebrews 12:1-2
This is something I constantly have to remind myself about. My flesh wants to throw a pity party and quit but the Holy Spirit picks me up and shakes me every time!!! I can be a brat :)
    Thanks for this blog today.
