Your Misery is your Mission

The Book of Nehemiah starts out with terrible news.   Nehemiahs country and people are suffering.  He hears a report that the people from his home town (who had already survived being attacked and enslaved by another country) were “in great trouble and disgrace”.   The News makes Nehemiah miserable…

4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.  Nehemiah 1:4

For the rest of the month we’ll be talking about the actions that Nehemiah took.  He prayed…and took action.  His actions lead others to join him and together they changed everything.

So what makes you miserable?

What are the wrongs that you feel the need to right?

What are the things that make you so miserable  that you want  “sit down and weep”  as Nehemiah did?

Your misery just may be your mission.   It certainly turned out to be Nehemiah’s.   The choice is what to do with your misery.

Complain?

…or take action and become a leader?
