Sunday Recap: Prayer

prayergatorwebThis Sunday at actionchurch we talked about how when it comes to prayer Seven days of prayer each week is definitely greater than one!   We talked about how prayer can be so powerful…so necessary…that instead of struggling to remember to pray, prayer can be a powerful and indispensable part of daily life.  We should come to God like the “great physician”.  We should be very specific with our “symptoms” and problems….yet be very non-specific and very open to the doctors treatment.   Tell God your  needs…NOT how to meet them.

16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.  Hebrews 4:16

We gave an update on our building search.  actionchurch does not yet have a new venue but there are some very exciting possibilities on our horizon.  We have decided not to pursue owning the building offered to us at such generous terms (nothing down except for renovation costs for five years!)  As great as the opportunity seems to own real estate our primary focus as a church is going to continue to be to provide a place where people can invite their “non-church” friends to hang out and hear about Jesus.  As I said on Sunday, our team is determined to make sure that our next venue “fits our foot” as a church…instead of trying to make our “foot fit the shoe” and change what we do in order to “fit” a new venue.

I am getting a great sense after looking at some possible (formerly retail) locations yesterday that the current bad economy is actually going to be a great opportunity for actionchurch to do church in the marketplace in ways that we couldn’t have even imagined one year ago.  Stay tuned here for updates.

The pledge on stage this week.  These guys (and gal) are seriously talented and are developing a unique “pledgey” sound”  I was impressed with what they were able to do musically with “worship-type” songs.

Scrubs clip…scrubs clip.   Whenever you can mix prayer and pie together in a video “snippet” I’m a happy man.

…had a nice talk with the owner of Club 19 yesterday.  I really wish them the best with all their new ventures.  I now think that there is SOME more flexibility on our 8 week timetable to move from the club. I think that is going to be hugely advantageous in our move!  Thanks!

I can’t believe Kanye interupted me.  (and when I say we are the “dumbest church in America” I say that with great love…and great consideration for the fact that I am definitely the dumbest preacher ever )

Thank you Crew!  I can’t wait to have an even better venue for you all to “work your magic”!

I missed everyone and it was so good to be back at actionchurch yesterday…the best is truly yet to come…maybe that’s why I couldn’t seem to shut up during the intro.  Josiah will be back at it next week. :-)

Please continue to pray for options to open up that we cannot even imagine on our own.  I believe together we will see God move in an “unmistakable” way at actionchurch.

  1. This is almost Exactly what the church that I went to yesterday talked about (minus finding a new venue). The pastor referenced Elijah…
…One cool point from the message I heard yesterday was that God told us to pray “your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven.” So whenever we pray for something, we’re praying that God gives us a glimpse on Earth of what is in Heaven; that he sends us a little piece of heaven here on Earth…just a different view on prayer that I haven’t heard before:-)
