This week is the final week of the “Flourish” series, and it’s an important one.  All month long we’ve been discussing how to flourish “Like a palm tree” (God’s way) versus flourishing “like a weed” (quickly, foolishly, selfishly, climbing over the bodies on the way to the top until you inevitably crash and burn.).  The choice is stark.  The concept is solid. But (and this is a VERY BIG” but”) how can you be sure that you will continue to flourish the wise way, God’s way, and not bail and take short-cuts like so many others do when times get difficult?  Is there something you could say…something you could believe… that would allow you to continue on the wise path instead of turning down the road that leads to TMZ headlines if you are famous, (and snarky Facebook posts about you if you are not-so-famous)?  Is there something that people who Flourish like Palm trees know that keeps them from disaster?

This Sunday we’ll talk about the ANSWER for that question given in Psalms 92.  We’ll also have updates, and insights about the BIG announcement from last week that has been BIG NEWS this week in York County! Do you want to flourish in 2015?   Want to change and grow personally?  Want to prosper instead of stagnate?  Succeed instead of Fail?

Last week we learned that there are TWO ways to flourish from the VERY INSIGHTFUL Psalm 92. It’s possible to flourish by taking short cuts, cutting in line, breaking the rules, breaking the law, “stepping over the bodies on the way to the top”. (in general by being a big selfish jerk:-)    It’s also possible to flourish by doing the opposite, by having integrity, by slowly building credibility and momentum, by benefitting others rather than just yourself.

Most of us would agree that the second way is the best way to prosper…for EVERYONE.  It benefits everyone in the community, AND it doesn’t lead to a huge “crash and burn” implosion that ALWAYS follow the short-term benefits of cutting corners and living dishonestly.  Everyone knows it…but why is it so very difficult…why do so few of us actually succeed at “Flourishing like a Palm Tree”?
