Free Refills

Dave Preaching

I had to smile when the person behind the counter at the movie theater, who handed me  my $6 “bucket of Diet Pepsi”, reminded me that I could bring it back during movie for “Free Refills.”  I know that’s their way of adding percieved value to a really expensive soft drink…but I wonder if ANYONE EVER comes back for seconds?   No matter what, as long as your kidneys can take it, the bottomless bucket of soda ensures you are NEVER going to run out of refreshment during the show.

I find the Bible to be a lot like the bottomless bucket of Soda.  It simply NEVER runs out of new inspiration, new instruction, new refreshment for our minds and soul.  Last week I was fortunate enough to preach my 9th Easter Service at actionchurch.  I ALWAYS think that there is nothing left to learn about the story of the Resurrection of Jesus.  Each year I think there isn’t possibly any detail or lesson that I haven’t covered in the past…I am ALWAYS WRONG!  The same goes for the Christmas Story…EVERY YEAR.  Next Sunday we are starting a brand new Sermon Series called “Murder One”.  It’s the story of Cain and Abel…a story of the first murder case.  I THOUGHT I knew all there was to learn from the story…as usual…I WAS WRONG.  The Bible is simply a BOTTOMLESS source of instruction, inspiration, examples of faith and failure, and guidance.   It NEVER ceases to surprise me.

I hope you join us as we continue to search and enjoy new refreshment AND direction from the Bible every Sunday morning.  I’m very excited that now we can offer even more “bible-ey goodness” on Tuesday nights at 6:30 as Dave Kerrison leads us through the Bible in an even more interactive way.   The Bible is amazing.  The longer I study it, the MORE sure I become that we will NEVER get to the “bottom” of it,

Free Refills.  Always.

Easter @ actionchurch

lookforthetruck

Sunday is Easter, the day we remember and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.  It’s a very special day not just for actionchurch, but for millions of Christians all over the world who remember and celebrate the ONE THING that changed EVERYTHING.  We’re looking forward to inviting our friends and family to experience Easter in our first permanent venue, and our amazing actionkidz team have a celebration planned for your kids that they will be talking about on the ride home and beyond. For all of us who are unfortunately  “too old” to experience actionkidz, we’ve got a great morning planned for the “big people” in your life as well. :-)   Not sure why Christians get so excited about something that happened so very long ago?  This Sunday you’ll understand why…

This week will feature music from Mitch Meadow and our own actionchurch house band, along with all the “normal” food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We’ve even freed up more parking…so go ahead and invite ALL your friends and family that have been curious about actionchurch. We look forward to seeing you at– 10:30 am, 36 W 11th Avenue. (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

Bring a friend!

actionkidz Easter Sunday

actionkidz check in

If you have friends or family members with small children who don’t have a church to attend this Sunday, don’t miss the opportunity to invite them to our actionkidz Easter Celebration.  From our very first Easter, when actionchurch was a struggling start-up renting out Fat Daddys Nightclub for Sunday Services, the actionkidz celebration was a huge part of Easter Sunday at actionchurch!   (I think that first year we dropped hundreds of filled plastic eggs ON the children…maybe not the best idea…but it was really EGG-citing.;-)

This year, our first year in our new facility, Kate and the entire actionkidz team have been preparing for our best Easter Celebration ever!  Your kids…and the kids you invite…will hear the GREAT NEWS that Jesus is alive. The’ll learn the REAL story of Easter,  AND they’ll learn that church on Sunday morning isn’t boring…but in fact can be the BEST hour of the week!

WE solemnly promise NOT to drop easter eggs (or anything else) on your children.

They WILL thank you for inviting them.

(And, their parents just might discover that church isn’t exactly as they remembered either…so bring them along as well)

See you Sunday!

This Sunday- (Purpose)Ful

ful-main

This Sunday is the final week of the “-FUL” series.  So far we’ve talked about how to live without being FEARFUL, and last week, how to live a life that is HOPEFUL by putting our trust in God.  This week we’ll hear about perhaps the most life-changing “-FUL” of all-  PURPOSEFUL.  What would it be like to live a life filled with purpose?  What would it be like to live intentionally, determinedly marching toward a goal instead of merely drifting from situation to situation?  What if you KNEW what God created you to do?  What does it mean to know the “will” of God?   Are any of these things even possible?   Don’t miss this weeks series finale as we find out together!

This Sunday will also hear some great music from our friend Matt Wheeler, along with all the “normal” food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church!

This Sunday- (Hope)-ful?

ful-mainThis week in the -ful series we are discussing HOPE.  Hope is powerful ally that can help us survive even the most desperate situations.   Misplaced hope, however, can be devastating.  This Sunday we’ll learn a sure-fire source of hope that will NEVER fail you.  Oh yeah, and if you’ve ever been inspired by this verse -> “11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’.”  Jeremiah 29:11  you should DEFINITELY hear the behind-the-scenes story of the prophet Jeremiah, who wrote those words.  It’s spring forward weekend, but you’ll be glad you set the clocks forward and missed an hour of sleep if you’ve ever felt yourself losing hope…

This week will also feature music from the Jesse Baker Band, along with all the “normal” food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church!
