Without a doubt, this has been the most important actionchurch crew interview we have had thus far. This incredible man has been involved with actionchurch since BEFORE actionchurch even existed. Don somehow managed to get him involved while he was still recovering from heart bypass surgery!  He created and maintains the church management software that keeps track of donations and expenses, and the handy dandy set-up and tear-down crew can attest that he is the mastermind behind fitting all of the “stuff” into the truck!  I am so very honored to introduce you to Michele Record’s father, Phil Herman!

What do you do here at actionchurch?

• Well, now, I direct the staging of loading the truck. I use to do more but now I’m a little handicapped so I can’t do as much.

How did you first get involved?

• Don had a vision of starting a church and when I came down, we talked about it. Trying to set-up and make it happen was completely different. We had to figure out how to physically make it happen, how we were going to get bands, do sound, and have video altogether.

What is your favorite thing about actionchurch?

• My favorite thing is that we help in our community. I’ve seen a lot of people respond well to that and it is very satisfying to know we can help.

What are your hobbies?

• Photography and I’m a computer programmer that writes software.

What has been the neatest design you’ve seen of an actionchurch series?

• They’re all good in their own light. I liked Ruth a loth.

What is the most memorable moment you have of Pastor Don?

• That’s tricky. There are just too many stories to tell to pick out just one. (He chuckled as he explained that all of the stories that kept coming to mind wouldn’t be appropriate to share…)

How has actionchurch changed you?

• It has certainly made me more patient and has given me a better understanding of helping people. It’s better to think what you can do for others. I wasn’t doing that as much as I should have.

Do you have a favorite scripture or some words of wisdom that you would like to share with the people of actionchurch?

• “⁹ “This, then, is how you should pray:
  ‘Our Father in heaven,
  hallowed be your name,
  ¹⁰ your kingdom come,
  your will be done,
  on earth as it is in heaven.
  ¹¹ Give us today our daily bread.
  ¹² And forgive us our debts,
  as we also have forgiven our debtors.
  ¹³ And lead us not into temptation,
  but deliver us from the evil one.’” (Matthew 6:9-13 NIV – The Lord’s Prayer)
