Season Wrap-up.

No pun intended.

Sunday was the final public gathering for actionchurch in 2010.  On January 2nd 2011, we’ll be kicking off a brand new series called “the ‘verbs”, taken from the book of Proverbs.  There are five Sundays in January, and thirty-one days.  We’re encouraging EVERYONE at actionchurch to join us in reading one chapter from the book of Proverbs each day (there are 31).  I am positive that if we put the Wisdom of the Proverbs into action (‘verbs are actionwords…and we are actionchurch) none of our lives will be the same.  (And it certainly beats making a crappy New Years resolution that will get broken by the end of the week.)

In the meantime, I am really thankful for all of you that make up the crowd and crew of actionchurch.  I am very thankful that we were able to end the year as we did with the service on Sunday. I think the guys from “Tale of 2 Cities” just knocked it out of the park with their special Christmas blend.  I think I’m going to be singing O come, O come, Emmanuel for the entire Christmas break. It was apparent on Sunday that the new venue God has provided for us at Frank Theaters is going to be a very good place to bring our friends and neighbors. The hard work of everyone on the crew is beginning to pay off in some pretty noticeable ways.   It was also perfectly appropriate to end the year by blessing people both far, near, and here.  Since all the donations to the needy families (and of course Worldvision) are anonymous, we may never know how much of an impact you have all made…but I assure you that your generosity is being celebrated both in heaven, and right here York in the lives of some very needy families this week!  I can think of no better way to end 2010 than with giving what we have to serve others.

It’s been an incredibly tough year in many ways…but I would not trade the lessons I have learned as a leader and (more importantly) a follower of Jesus this year, for anything. When I’m not eating cookies…or working out trying to fit something other than sweat pants for January 2nd, I  plan on sharing some of the things I’ve learned in 2010 right here on the Blog over the coming days.  I hope you’ll join me  and share what you’ve learned in the comments.
