Selling Paint…

I’m a painting contractor by trade, not a paint salesman.  I get paid to apply paint, not sell a certain kind or color of paint.   My business is actually serving people…so if you want a purple bathroom with pink spots…and you’re willing to pay for that much labor…I don’t “judge”.   Want to paint your doors green and your walls brown?  Fine with me.   I’m not an interior designer.

Even though I’m not a “paint salesman” I sell a LOT of a certain brand of paint.  It’s not because I get a commission , it’s because I believe in the product.  I used it on my home.  It’s never let me down. I know that if my customers will try it they will be satisfied as I have been.   When people ask what I recommend…I share my story.   I don’t push.  I don’t “sell”.  It just comes up…naturally.

I’m pretty sure “selling paint” is a lot like telling others about the Good News of Jesus.  If you don’t “use” it…don’t bother.    Not everyone wants to listen…don’t push.  But if you are asked…if you are a believer…if your life has been changed…share your story!

15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.   1 Peter 3:15

  1. Love, love, LOVE this analogy! Haven’t told you in a while, but i REALLY do look foward to your daily piece of Don’s mind – dancing goats, underwearless priest on stairs, or just things like this that make me think… Thanks for putting the time into it!

    • Thanks SO much for your kind words. There’s truly nothing I enjoy more than when I’m able to share a little bit of what I’m learning and it “clicks” with someone else.
