Cha-cha-cha-chia

Sunday @ actionchurch we’ll be discussing the claim Jesus made that his death would be like planting a kernal of grain in the ground.

24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.  John 12:24

Jesus claimed that his death would be the beginning and not the end of his work on earth.  He predicted that his sacrifice would set off a chain reaction that would result in a great harvest of new lives!

The big question is:  “What kind of lives was Jesus talking about?”  What if I’m “broken” and “screwed up”?  What if I’m a mess? Isn’t following Jesus just for “good people”?  Can Jesus’ plan include someone like me?  Can someone really CHANGE?  How does it “work”?

Sunday we’ll answer all of these questions from the teachings of Jesus.  Thru-me will bring the rock. …and oh yeah, Sunday I will be giving my 4 reasons why I think religion is like a Chia Pet.  :-)

  1. Chia Pets! Can’t wait to invite my friends now! Can we give one away?
p.s. Chuck wants to know if you have been smelling too many paint fumes!

  2. I’m bringing my chia pet…but I’m not giving it away. Maybe it could be bring your Chia pet to church sunday. :-) And yeah…maybe I am smelling too many paint fumes. We’ll find out Sunday.

  3. Hope Josiah doesn’t find out he’s missing “bring your chia pet to church” sunday. He might want to stay home an extra day :)

  4. I think Josiah has better plans for Sunday Morning :-) Now I just need to remember to change the txt questions number on the screens Sunday Morning. He probably doesn’t want to answer questions about why Religion is like a Chia pet on his honeymoon…
