Every new thing we do at actionchurch turns into an episode of Macgyver. We’re going to have a baptism on Sunday…so obviously we need something to “dunk” people in… It needs to be something that can be set up quickly and moved easily due to our time constraints on Sunday morning. Originally I planned to use a hot tub, but I don’t think we could get it in and out in enough time. My second plan was to use one of those inflatable swimming pools but after some quick calculations of how many gallons of water they hold I wasn’t sure we could get it filled and emptied in time. Also, water weights 8.33lbs/gal…so I could imagine the pool and the person getting baptized falling through the floor into the basement like the tub in the movie Money Pit…

“Final answer”! Unless anyone has a better idea I am going to buy a 8x3x2 horse trough from Tractor Supply (I might purchase a manure spreader also). A horse trough seems to fit all the needs we have and kinda fits the “wild west” way we do things at actionchurch. If we slap a logo on it…it actually fits the “decor”… besides, our new “baptismal” can also ice down a lot of drinks at a party…

So this was the “how” we will baptize people…tomorrow I will post about the “why” and “who” of baptisms.
