2016 Relay for Life schedule

Here’s the Details for this years Relay for Life event.   Join us as we serve York County cancer survivors and their caretakers!   If you have already signed up…thank you!  If you haven’t yet made plans to serve…we have a t-shirt….and a job waiting for you!   Just email info@actionchurch.com or check in at the actionchurch truck at the event for your event T and assignment!

When: Friday June 17th
Where: York County Vocational Technical School
2179 S. Queen Street
Unload and set -up 9:00 a.m.

First official lap – noon

Shaved Ice Stand – noon – 11:00 p.m

actionkidz area – noon – 7:00 p.m.

Dinner Activities:
Tables/Chairs set up- 1:00 p.m.
Decorations – 3:00 p.m.
Salad Prep – 5:00 p.m.
Serving Assignments/Instructions 6:00 p.m.

Coffee Bar – 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

 

BIG Sunday @ actionchurch!

Make plans now to join us Sunday at 10:30 in this “can’t miss” edition of actionchurch.  This week in the RESILIENCE series we’ll learn something about how RESILIENT PEOPLE view pain, that is certain to help you get back up next time life knocks you down!  We’ll also get some surprising answers for the age-old question: ” Why does a loving God allow suffering? ”  This week will also leave you with the amazing statement Paul made to Christ-Followers everywhere:

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?  Romans 8:31

That’s just the beginning…as this week we’ll also join together to SERVE the people demonstrating RESILIENCE in our community…cancer SURVIVORS and their caretakers at Relay for Life 2016!!!   (We’ll also have the brand new Love God, Love People, Take action t-shirt available for free for you to wear to the event…limited edition….get them while you can!)

This week will also feature music from AWAKENING MERCURY, along with all the “normal” food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We’ve even freed up more parking…so go ahead and invite ALL your friends and family that have been curious about actionchurch. We look forward to seeing you at– 10:30 am, 36 W 11th Avenue. (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

Ever been punched???

In the face? In the gut? Punched by LIFE???

Unfortunately ALL OF US have taken (or will take) a blow from life that completely knocks the wind out of us!  The question is what happens next?  Will we bounce back? Or will we stay “bent out of shape”?   Will we become a victim…or a survivor?   Will we become bitter…or wise???

This month at actionchurch were exploring the amazing human property of Resilience.  The dictionary defines resilience as-“the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape,
the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.”  Jesus promised something even BETTER to his followers:

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.””

This Sunday- a la carte finale!

This Sunday is the final week of the a la carte sermon series, and we’ll use it to “lab test” what we’ve learned so far by discussing what God thinks about Marriage, Sex & Gender.  One of my most important goals as a pastor is to NEVER waste anyone’s time on Sunday morning by answering questions that no one is asking.  However, due to the “ripped from the headlines” nature of this topic (and the way too many discussions we’ve all had with friends and family about who should share a bathroom over the last few weeks:-) I fully understand that this week’s topic is a tricky one…   So… this week I’ve prayerfully AND thoughtfully studied the scriptures as usual.  I’ve done my homework.  This Sunday , however, I’ll show up and deliver the most honest answers I can come up with from my preparation, AND because I want to make sure that you have a chance to clarify anything I might say that you find disagreeable or confusing, I’m going to join Bill and Denise in the “ask us anything” area after the service.  I hope to see you there!

 

 

Women’s Self Defense Class- June 4th

This is a comprehensive personal defense class that covers so much more than just a few holds or kicks that could potentially deter an attacker. Get informed, and get prepared to protect yourself and your family.   Class topics include:

  • PA -Use of Force Laws
  • PA- Stand Your Ground Law
  • Body Alarm Reaction
  • Taser/Firearms/Pepper Spray
  • Martial Arts
  • RED MAN Hands-on Sparring with instructor.
