Baptisms at the park this Sunday.

This Sunday (7/31) actionchurch will NOT be meeting at Frank Theaters Queensgate.  Instead we will be meeting at John Rudy County Park for our annual picnic.  At the park there will be bounce houses and games for the kids, great food, music, and the opportunity to hang out with actionchurch folks in a relaxed environment and get to know them better.

After the picnic lunch we will having a simple baptism service for those who want to publicly express their commitment to Christ through water baptism.  There won’t be a sermon, band, or slide show but seeing people be obedient to the call of scripture to “repent and be baptised” is one of the most powerful and joyful moments we can experience together as a church.  I’m Looking forward to CELEBRATING  that together Sunday.

Here’s more information about what the Bible says about water Baptism if you are curious or considering being baptised:

What Baptism is:
An external symbol of an internal change.

A way to publicly declare that you are now a follower of Jesus Christ.

An act of obedience to scripture.

A way to celebrate that your old life is dead and buried (beneath the water) and a brand new life has begun.

What Baptism is not:

A “ticket to heaven” (being baptized without turning from your sins and putting your faith in Jesus to guide you through life is sort of like putting on a wedding ring and having a ceremony without actually committing to the one you marry…it may “fool” some people-but not the one you are “marrying”.)

A way to “wash your sins away”. (Jesus already did that if you have received his gift of atonement.)

A way to join actionchurch.

Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:37-38
