Weights…

weights

I’m a “recovering procrastinator” so I tend to put off the things that I don’t want to deal with.  Unless I make a huge effort to handle things as soon as the come, things like annoying jobs, paperwork, awkward conversations I don’t want to have, and any dealings with the motor vehicle department :-) tend to get pushed off until the last possible moment.  The problem with putting off things is that they add up.  They weigh you down.  Each little detail not “dealt with” is like an extra weight you have to carry with you all the time until the task is completed.  If you gather enough “weights” it tires you out…slows you down…makes life exhausting.

So that’s my confession of the day.  I procrastinate.  I’ve got some stuff that I’ve been putting off that I need to deal with this week.  I’m dreading it…but I look forward to getting rid of the “weight”.

What “weighs you down” in life?  What can you do to get rid of the extra “weight” this week?

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrew 12:1
