Remodeling…

remodeling

I’ll admit it.  I grumble and complain whenever I go to our local Wal-mart.  They’re remodeling and every thing is constantly being moved…things are never in the same place…it seems to change every day… and I hate it!  (I know there are other stores I could go to…but where else can a “sophisticated” man like me buy masking tape, motor oil, shotgun shells, and a fried chicken in the same store?)  I also hate road construction, even though I like smooth roads.  I am annoyed by the inconvenience of change…even when it is for the better.

I know that actionchurch is constantly changing.  (During our 16 month existence we have been at two locations and are constantly tweaking and trying to “improve our serve”)  Changes happening right now are the kick-off of action underground groups,  the addition of Kate as our “community organizer”    :-)   our efforts to upgrade our Sunday morning experience, and lots more to come…

So how do you constantly change when most people (including me), ate change?  How do you help folks cope with  “remodeling”?   One thing I am noticing on my trips to Wal-mart  is that they are constantly trying to communicate what is happening in their remodel, giving people a “map” of what has moved, and showing how much better the store will be when their remodel is complete.  Not a bad start…but what else can we do as a church to communicate changes as they happen?
