This week is the third week of the sermon series too long to remember (about 4 people we hope you won’t ever forget) and we ALL KNOW what that means!   No?  Ok, I’ll remind you…but it’s right there in the title.  This Sunday it’s time to talk about the third of our “four amazing people who met Jesus”…and also apparently time to “shock you”.   Challenge accepted.

This week we will talk about the “shocking” person who met Jesus both before AND after his death…and what his story teaches us about our life today!

The weeks are winding down at Frank Theaters as we prepare to move to our first permanent venue in North York. You won’t want to miss a one…So be there this Sunday, be prepared to be “shocked”. :-)  This week features new music from “Port Ellis“, some exciting updates and photos of the  renovation progress at our new venue, along with all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

This Sunday is the second week of the sermon series with the name too long to remember, about people too amazing to forget.  This week we’ll talk about the woman who met Jesus first after his resurrection.  She is just one of five “Marys” mentioned in the Gospels. She was a single woman in a time when her best hope of status or respect was tied to being a wife and/or mother. The Bible gives few details about her life, yet her story is still a matter of speculation and legend today.  Don’t miss the true story of Mary Magdalene this Sunday…and even more importantly…the amazing story of Jesus’ love and  honor that he gave to this unlikely yet inspiring woman!

Join us for music from Frank Hendrickson, some exciting updates and photos of the “actionchurch For North York” renovation progress, along with all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

Easter @ actionchurch

This Sunday is Easter Sunday, the time that Christians everywhere celebrate that a man named Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, got himself executed for it, and then came back a few days later to say “See, I wasn’t joking…I really am who I said I was”.  Obviously, that claim raises some questions.  Obviously, it raised a bit of a stir then…and still does today.   Clearly, a bit more explanation and evidence would be helpful. This week we’ll introduce you to a few of the people who met Jesus AFTER he died, and recount how that encounter changed EVERYTHING for them…and US!

If you are an attender of actionchurch, this is a perfect excuse to bring that relative or friend who “doesn’t do church”.  (We’ve even made the sermon series title super easy to remember…difficult to tweet though…makes a horrible hashtag…better invite your friends via Facebook :-) If you actually “don’t do church”, this would be a great weekend to join us at Frank Theaters just as an experiment…just as a chance to prove yourself right that church people are weird and church gatherings are totally a waste of time.   Whatever your reason, we hope you’ll be there for some new music from “GALE” , some exciting updates and photos of the “actionchurch For North York” renovation progress, along with all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

This week marks not only the final Sunday before Easter, but the week we wrap up “The Case against Jesus” sermon series.   All month long we’ve been investigating the arrest, prosecution, torture, and eventual execution of Jesus of Nazareth.  This week it all comes to a head, as we get to the reason he “had to die” (given by his chief prosecutor), a shocking admission that he was in fact innocent by one of the judges, and a bombshell claim by Jesus that is still debated today.   Whether you’ve listened to all of the “Case against Jesus” sermons (available here)…or if this is your first week attending actionchurch…I can’t think of a better way to prepare for and understand the Easter Story than being part of the service this Sunday.  (This is a GREAT week to bring the “skeptic” in your circle of friends and family as well.)

Sunday we’ll have brand new music from “Transistor Radio”,  and we’ve also got some exciting updates and photos of the “actionchurch For North York” renovation progress, along with all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.

This week marks the fourth week that we’ve spent Sunday mornings investigating the arrest, prosecution, torture, and eventual execution of Jesus of Nazareth.  So far we’ve uncovered numerous instances of Jesus confronting his reliably hypocritical and self-absorbed religious accusers, with hard-hitting logical and factually correct, rebuttals.   In short, if we were keeping score, the pharisees would have zero on their score board (and I also feel like this would be a great spot for a March-madness joke…but I honestly don’t care about college basketball…or is it baseball?)  So far, we have found NOTHING short of admirable qualities in the stories Jesus.  No fault.  No Sin. No weakness.  No crime (other than perhaps NOT sucking up to powerful and corrupt officials).   This week just might change all of that.  This week we uncover a “problem” with Jesus that is STILL hard to deal with…something that just may have gotten him killed.

Sunday we’ll have our friends in “The GoAround” as our musical guests, we’ve also got some exciting updates and photos of the “actionchurch For North York” renovation progress, along with all the normal food and fun that makes actionchurch ANYTHING but a normal Sunday morning at church! We look forward to seeing you at Frank Theaters Queensgate- 10:30 am (DIRECTIONS), and as usual, the actionkidz crew has a fantastic hour of learning and fun planned for your kids (infant to 6th grade) as well.
