If you haven’t seen the movie “42”, fair warning: It’s gritty, at times gut-wrenchingly disturbing, and even though it’s PG-13 it contains AWFUL language. It also portrays the heroic and inspiring true story of Jackie Robinson…and woven through-out are principles from scripture that as a church we CANNOT AFFORD to overlook. It’s EXACTLY the kind of story that Jesus came into. Our Savior was born into a dirty stable to grow up as the son of God/man in a world or injustice, genocide, racial hatred, exploitation of women and the poor, and EVERY other evil you can imagine. This Sunday we’ll discuss just what Jesus STILL brings into our broken world in America, 2013. If you prefer church as a theoretical discussion of Bible trivia, puppy dog stories, and inspirational posters…this Sunday at actionchurch is probably not for you. :-) On the other hand, If you’d like to hear an honest talk about what the scriptures say “we are supposed to do” as followers of Jesus about Racism and discrimination…you probably should be there Sunday.
Sunday will also feature the music of the The August Exchange, and actionkidz will be putting on capes and masks to continue their brand new series “Heroes of Mega City”! There’s really just too much going on Sunday to list…so you probably should just make plans to be there. As always there will also be loads of yummy Maple Donuts, Muffins, Bagels, Hot Coffee, water, MOVIE POPCORN! and great actionchurch people to hang with. It all starts at 10:30 am at Frank Theaters Queensgate (Directions).
