This was Week Two of our series titled Service/Serve Us. Don decided to teach on a light subject since it was a holiday weekend. He spoke about salvation, works & grace, one of the most argued subjects in theological circles. Is the church here on this Earth to serve us, or do service? And what is love and what does it mean to “be in love”? Listen in to hear Don explain love through a special song about “taking a nap”.

This week kicked off our Relay For Life season and our Service/Serve Us mini-series. The theme for this week was from James 1:27. “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” We apologize for some minor audio problems in the middle of the service. We corrected the problem and it shouldn’t happen again. We would also like to thank Austin Fitz for designing this weeks graphics. Listen in to our guest speakers Gretchen and Buddy share their stories of surviving cancer.

I’m not sure where I first heard the phrase “sacred cow tipping” but even though it sounds like a cool “indy” album name, I love the phrase. I love the idea of questioning. I love the idea that nothing is “off limits” in our questions about God and his plans for mankind.
One thing that makes me feel very fortunate to preach at a church like actionchurch is that I have the ability to ask tough questions…to tip “sacred cows”…to find uncomfortable questions…and poke them with a stick
I think we’re going to open up the “txt msg” lines on Sunday for questions/comments again. I’ve been questioning this whole “service/serve us? thing all week and I have a couple of new “theories” that I’m looking forward to presenting on Sunday. Should be something to offend/challenge/entertain nearly everyone…
